Bare Frontyard

On Monday, we decided to do some heavy labor and cut down our Mesquite tree in the front yard! =( We are very sad to see it go...it gave such great shade in the summer and it was a pretty tree. However, the thing was starting to die at the top and on one side and it was slanting severely from a fall that we heard happened before we moved in. So we think that one of the roots must have broken or something. Instead of waiting for the HOA to come after us, we decided to take it out while Ben had the week off. We'll try to plant a new one sometime in the near future.

I'm so awful at taking before pictures in the before-after scenario but here is a semi-before picture. Ben had already taken a big branch off the tree.... It sure helps to have the son of a tree trimmer as a husband! =)

While Ben did the hacking, I sawed the branches into smaller pieces to fit into the truck and saved the bigger pieces for firewood.

And now our yard looks a little bare....

But at least we have some good Mesquite wood for barbequeing!

Ben looks like a natural tree-trimmer. Like father, like son, I guess. ;)
