Ben and I started a tradition for General Conference weekend shortly after we were married. Of course, it surrounded food. On Saturday morning of General Conference, we make homemade cinnamon rolls. It's really the only time I ever make them but twice a year is plenty! I decided to steer away from my traditional recipe this year and tried the Pioneer Woman's recipe. I love her blog and her recipes are really good. I like the texture of the cinnamon rolls better than my usual recipe but it was way too rich. Next time, I think I will cut back quite a bit on the butter and sugar for the filling, pan, and icing...maybe not drench it in so much icing. But still very yummy...just have a glass of milk handy!




During the Priesthood session while the men were away, us women folk decided to do some fun things for dinner. My mother-in-law taught us how to make homemade tamales...I've been dying to learn how to make them! She had the recipe from her mother and they were so delicious!

And I taught everyone how to make sushi...just California rolls. That's the extent of my sushi making skills. But I did try something new and did a few hand rolls (pictured in the center). My sisters-in law really enjoyed helping and most of them that normally would never touch the stuff, actually enjoyed eating it too. We had it for an appetizer before the tamales. Hmmm, tamales and sushi might have to become another tradition...doesn't that sound yummy?!
